Mark and Rhonda's Boston Park Plaza Wedding

This past Saturday, Fiona and I were the coordinators for Mark and Rhonda's wedding. The day started out in a suite at the W Hotel, where the bride and her seven bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done. Three of the stylists were the bride's very talented relatives/friends, and one stylist was Michelle Arruda DeVoe of Demiche Beaute'. The bridesmaids wore BCBG dresses in two different styles, along with fun zebra patterned heels. The bride wore a beautiful Junko Yoshioka gown, with a cathedral length veil and silver Stuart Weitzman shoes.

The ceremony for 170 guests was held only a few blocks away at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. Every other pew was decorated with white calla lilies and tulle. After the ceremony, guests were invited over to the Boston Park Plaza Hotel for cocktails, dinner, and dancing.

The cocktail hour in the Plaza Ballroom had two sushi stations, and escort cards were hung on three large arrangements of manzanita branches and white orchids. Cocktail tables were topped with white cymbidium orchid arrangements surrounded by votive candles. As guests moved through a set of french doors into the Imperial Ballroom for dinner and dancing, they were greeted with a video montage projected on the ceiling of the ballroom with childhood photos of the newlyweds.

The entire reception space was transformed into something really magical. There were a mixture of square and round tables, with bengaline shell linens and fruitwood chiavari ballroom chairs. The centerpieces were some of the most beautiful floral arrangements I've ever seen, created by John LaRoche of Blue Guava. Some were manzanita branches with stems of white orchids entwined in the branches, and the majority of the tables were these amazing cherry blossom branches that were literally six feet tall. Both arrangements had a modern white square base filled with hydrangeas. The Blue Guava team also put together glass cylinders of candles to line the stage area, and a large wishing tree, with a custom made base that had four ledges to hold wishing tree cards and pens for guests.

The lighting for the room was spectacular, and Ethan from Advanced Lighting & Production Services was there throughout the night to make sure that everything was perfect. There was pinspotting to highlight the floral centerpieces, incredible custom gobos to create trees on every single column in the ballroom, more tree patterns projected onto the sides of the ballroom, little stars on the ceiling so it looked like the ballroom was open to the sky, and uplighting on every section of the balcony that changed from an amber color during dinner, to blue during dancing.

Guests enjoyed a three course dinner, along with cakes from Sri Lanka as favors, and a delicious four-tier wedding cake from Konditor Meister, covered in rolled chocolate and little cherry blossom flowers.

MJ Audio provided the amazing sound, DJ Kristin Korpos kept the crowd dancing all night, and the entire wedding was filmed by Jason Falchuk and his assistant, Sam, from Boston Wedding Films. Professional photos from Joyelle of Joyelle West Photography will be coming later on, but for now, here are some that I took!

One thing that you may find surprising is that the creative mind behind all of the floral, lighting, sound, music, and everything else was actually the groom! Mark definitely knows what he wants, and I was thrilled that his vision came true on the wedding day.

Let me just say, this wedding was such a treat, and a perfect start to the DOC season. It was an absolute pleasure to work with all of the vendors and with the staff at The Boston Park Plaza. Mark and Rhonda, thank you so much for allowing us to be part of your incredible wedding!
