A Modern and Chic State Room Wedding

This past weekend, I had the honor of attending the wedding of my friends, Robin and Karin. They have been together for the past seven years, and decided to get married at The State Room located in downtown Boston. The Great Room is one of the most stunning venues in the city, with floor to ceiling windows showcasing a tremendous view of the Boston harbor and skyline. During the ceremony, there was a bit of cloud cover, so it looked like the windows were made of frosted glass, which actually fit in really well with their modern theme.

The wedding colors were a mix of orange, white, and gray, with hints of pink flowers in the cocktail hour space. The decor consisted of hundreds of square white candles, large vases filled with long pieces of driftwood, and whole white phalaenopsis orchid plants. The bride wore an absolutely gorgeous Pronovias gown, with a train flowing with delicate ruffles. The bride's bouquet was made of white phalaenopsis orchids, and the bridesmaids carried bouquets of white peonies.

The escort cards were laser etched clear blocks with ribbon matching guests' meal preferences. Favors were French-style jellies, beautifully packaged with their names and wedding date from L.A. Burdick. All of the programs and menu cards were clean-lined and simple, matching their wedding invitations perfectly. The three tiered phalaenopsis orchid decorated square cake was made with a buttercream frosting that looked like it sparkled, and it was placed on a clear block stand filled with smaller branches and more orchids.

The lighting made a really dramatic impact, especially after sunset. There was pin spotting on all of the centerpieces, and up-lighting that changed colors throughout the night behind their nine piece band, and on all of the columns. Everything about this wedding was so modern and chic!

Did you see the bride's unbelievable dress? It really was one of the most gorgeous dresses I've ever seen on a bride. When Karin walked down the staircase and down the aisle for the ceremony, I literally had my hand covering my open mouth in awe of how beautiful she looked. Robin and Karin, congratulations again and I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon in Italy!

Hi Laura,
I think the bride etched the blocks herself!
